A Little Sweet Something in Design

So you’re in the mood for a little sweet something.  Not a big slice of cake, something smaller.  Once upon a time cupcakes ruled the “small cake world”, but now cake pops (or lollicakes as some like to call them) are all the rage.  Thanks to the creative genius Bakerella (aka Angie Dudley) cake pops creators have been popping up all over the place.

The sky is the limit with these little balls of sweet goodness in terms of both flavour and designs.  The biggest bonus that we have found with cake pops versus cupcakes is almost no crumb factor.  Kids and cupcakes equal lots of crumbs all over the floor and themselves.  Kids and cake pops equal little to no mess!

I think we’ve seen it all here at Sweet Tooth Productions when it comes to cake pops.  People have created everything from: superheroes to princesses, animals to wedding couples, snowmen to human organs!

The classic cake pop is a sweet and mushy mouthful of mmmm. In its simplest form, it is made of crumbled cake and frosting creamed together.  You take this mixture and shape into balls (or whatever sweet design you can create) and then you place them on a stick.  Next they are chilled in the freezer and when they’re the almost frozen you quickly dip them in candy melts and decorate.

There are books about cake pops, baking classes, YouTube tutorials, and home based cake pop shops popping up online all the time.  Even coffee giant Starbucks has started to cash in on this craze!  Will Tim Horton’s be next???

They may not be less calories than a cupcake and we know first hand that they are certainly not easier to make… When it all boils down to it cake pops are so popular because they can be made in so many sweet something designs – making them super cute and super convenient to eat.  So the next time you’re hankering for a little sweet treat (both in design and taste) then make sure to get your fix with a cake pop – your taste buds will thank you!

Want to include some cake pops into your Sweet Tooth Productions dessert buffet?  Not a problem we can take care of that for you.  Just drop us a line and we’ll hook you up!
